If you like Shabby as I do, you won't resist to have something like this. So simple but cute. Recycled cans, distressed paint, some jute, and paper flowers. That's all and gorgeous.

I love my new clipboard. I recycled it from an old one, sanded it, painted it and covered with beautiful scrap paper. I finished with paper roses and ribbon. Super adorable.

NEW WHIMSICAL GIRL

I have been trying to keep up working with this theme. This new girl is almost finished, some glazes are missing and my signature.
Here you have her in a  previous state and the almost finished piece.

The Whimsical Girl

WHIMSICAL GIRL

Since yesterday I have been painting this girl, trying convey sweetness but with a touch of Gothic.   Weird combination but I guess that with the pink colors, the roses that I painted on paper and added to the composition, I could soften the pale complexion and gloomy eyes.

Two Fat Cats Update

Well I could not paint a lot after work, but I did something that I really liked. I still need to work on refining some lines but so far so good.

Two fat cats

TWO FAT CATS WIP

I have started a new project, but though I wanted it, I could not finish it today. This is just the beginning and let's see where it takes me during the week.
I will post updates.

GOING BACK TO THE ORIGINS

I started painting in 1989. As every beginner, trying to learn about the materials, how the work with them, and making endless mistakes. But I kept on trying, and having as a goal: perfection: neat blendings, super fine and mastered strokes. It was a long way and still, trying to make them better. But life has those magical moments, that leads you to meet different people and give you just a little hint, unintentionally, but efficient. Why on Earth I do have to keep a standardized technique, if I really want to paint and make myself happy, and let other people happy by being able to finish a piece similar to mine.
I have noticed after so many years of teaching, that difficult, unreachable works, cannot be done by a beginner, even by a knowledgeable artist, if he/she has not the practice.
So I got crazy, stop thinking about mastering brushstrokes and let  creativity flow.
Some of my older friends might not understand why. But believe me, I went back to my roots, when I started painting and having fun.
I will be posting these new woks, and share them with all my fellow painters who still enjoy the magic.
Have fun and lets create a colorful world!!
My very first whimsical painting inspired by a super fun, talented, lady who made me think that Art is everything not only perfection.
